Texts for your website

You don't have to be a writer. Just answer the questions below as if you were telling a customer about it. I'll do the polishing.

Four rules first

Write the way you speak

Imagine a customer standing in front of you asking: “So what do you actually do?” That's exactly how it may sound. Nobody needs words like “innovative”, “competent” or “holistic”.

Specific, not general

Rather not“We offer you high-quality services all around the topic of hair.”

Better“Cut, colour, updo. And a coffee while the colour sets.”

Formal or informal, but consistent

Think about how you address your customers in your shop, and stick with it across the whole website.

Short is good

Short sentences, short paragraphs. A one-pager fits up to 1,500 words, that's more than you think. Most good websites get by with half of that.

Section by section

Not every website needs everything. Answer what fits you. Bullet points are enough, I'll turn them into sentences.

The first impression

  • What do you do, in one sentence?
  • Who do you do it for?
  • What should visitors do first: call, book an appointment, drop by?

Example: “Kante Barbershop. Fades, classic cuts and wet shaves right in the Neckarstadt. Drop by or message us for an appointment.”

Your offer

  • What do you offer? A list is enough.
  • What does it cost, roughly or exactly? Prices build trust.
  • What is most popular, what should you highlight?

About you

  • How long have you been doing this, and how did you get into it?
  • What matters to you in your work?
  • What do customers often say about you?

Tip: One or two personal sentences are stronger than a long list of career stations. People buy from people.

How it works

  • What happens when someone comes to you, from the first contact to the result?
  • Do people need an appointment, or can they just drop by?

Frequently asked questions

  • Which questions do you hear from customers again and again? Write down three to five, with your answer.

Example: “Can I pay by card?” “Yes, cash or card, contactless too.”

Contact

  • How do people best reach you, and when?
  • Address, opening hours, parking?

Don't feel like writing?

Completely normal. Then I'll write the texts with you: we have a short call, I ask you the questions above, and you get finished texts to approve. €129 for the one-pager, €249 with subpages.

Request

Done? Just send them to me.

Easiest directly in the document “Texte für deine Seite” in your Google Drive folder, which I'll send you after you say yes. The questions above are already in it. An email or Word file works too. I'll take care of spelling and polishing. Questions? On WhatsApp or at alex@anker42.de.
